Follow in the footsteps of intrepid explorer David Livingstone, and let loose the intrepid adventurer in you when you visit Zambia! Rich culture and adventure are abundant and beautiful landscapes and wildlife are never in short supply in this beautiful landlocked African nation.

Located in the centre of southern Africa, it is home to the mighty Zambezi River, which hosts the magnificent Victoria Falls, just a stone’s throw away from the tourist epicenter of Livingstone. Visitors can experience the falls in a variety of ways – from helicopter rides, kayak or canoe, and even on gentle hikes around the falls’ protected area.

The people of Zambia come from a diverse number of tribes, all with very unique beliefs and traditions. Modernization has led to the mingling of many tribes, which has led to unparalleled forms of art that can’t be found elsewhere. With all the beautiful pottery, basketry, fabric weaving, woodcarvings and wire crafts, you’ll need extra space in your suitcase!

Described by many as “the Real Africa”, it is a country of wide open spaces, rich in wildlife, with magnificent forests, wild rivers and wetlands – studded with lakes and impressive waterfalls.

  • The Republic of Zambia was formerly known as Northern Rhodesia.
  • The capital city of the country is Lusaka, though Livingstone held the title up until 1935.
  • Iron and copper have been mined in the country for over 2000 years.
  • Victoria Falls is found at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe – it is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is called locally “Mosi-oa-Tunya” which means “smoke that thunders.”
