The view from our office window

Cape Town is officially one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Framed between oceans and mountains, it’s surrounded by incredible natural beauty, with Table Mountain, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, an absolute highlight. Cape Town is also a place of huge diversity, lively cultures, and a vibrant nightlife. Living here is dynamic and interesting, and weekends will give you a huge variety of exciting activities.

You can, for instance, venture to the top of Table Mountain, go paragliding, take to the ocean by kayak, hang out on some of the many beaches, sip wine at stunning vineyards, head out on safari, enjoy some Africa’s finest restaurants and even take to the skies on a helicopter flight over the city. For those more interested in exploring South Africa’s culture, how about visiting the historic Robben Island, or taking a free walking tour through the city to learn about Apartheid?

Participants on this marketing internship live in a shared volunteer and intern house in Muizenberg, just 3 minutes away from one of the most popular beaches in Cape Town’s South Peninsula. Aside from being one of the best surfing beaches around (ready to get suited up?), it’s an area filled with vibey bars, cafes, and amazing restaurants. Our team of international and local staff members live and work with you, so expect to see and do more than most tourists could ever dream of.

Volunteer Reviews

This 3 month internship has been the best experience of my life from the moment I arrived in Cape Town. My expectations exceeded in every aspect, from the knowledge I gained to the friends I made and the adventures we went on! Days spent in the office were never boring thanks to my 2 amazing bosses always keeping us interested and motivated. Andrew and Olivia are both extremely talented and I loved learning from them. I also loved having the opportunity to volunteer on a project with the lovely Cape Town team. Getting to be involved with GAPA and the preschools was a highlight of my internship. I have always wanted to pursue a career in marketing and this internship has not only solidified my future career but it has also shown me I want to market something I am truly passionate about like volunteer work with a responsible/reliable company. Definitely recommend this program to everyone interested in expanding their graphic design, social media, and marketing skills while living in the beautiful city of Cape Town! Thank you again to my amazing African Impact family, I will miss you all!

Olivia Murphy, US

“I applied for the Marketing, Graphic Design and Social Media Internship on my last year of college, and it was the best decision I made for my career and personal life! The Head Office and the marketing team were extremely welcoming, I’ve learned much more than I expected and felt motivated that it contributes to the success of an amazing cause. I’ve made friends for life and will always cherish the time I had in South Africa. My only regret was not staying longer because time passes very quickly here. Make every second count!”
