Volunteer Reviews

“We arrived in mid-September as a family for two weeks of volunteering in Victoria Falls, one of the most amazing places in Africa and maybe in the whole world.

The Zimbabwean heat welcomed us together with Audrey, the amazing volunteer coordinator. It took us a day or two to get orientated, get to know the other volunteers and the projects we would be involved with. As the days went by we started getting more and more involved both practically and emotionally and no doubt the after-school club was the heart of our experience. We came here almost every day and got to play with the kids, teach them, sing, dance but mainly won a lot of love from the kids, who were of all ages. We saw how much happiness and warmth these kids experience and share.

In the mornings we were involved in a variety of projects – gardening with community members affected by HIV, lion conservation and research and teaching at a local school (which was very different from what we knew back home).

Two weeks went by much quicker than we could ever have imagined. These were two amazing weeks as a family. Days to share, to talk, to feel and to love. Days to try new things we never had an opportunity to try before.

We got the opportunity to meet friends from all around the world, to teach, garden and work with lions, but most of all we fell in love with this amazing community – the kids, the staff and our fellow volunteers.” Gilad, 11, Tomer, 16, Nurit, Mom, and Amos, Dad, Victoria Falls volunteers.

  • Greater Kruger National Park is iconic in South Africa for its wildlife. If getting up close and personal to the Big 5 while learning research techniques and the importance of the environment is on your agenda, then look no further. Living in a lodge surrounded by wildlife, your family members will learn to understand the importance of wildlife, as well as being part of environmental education programs in the local communities.
  • Kilimanjaro provides an iconic back drop to our community projects in the nearby town of Moshi, amongst the famous Maasai people in Tanzania.
