Mozambique is home to some of the finest tropical beaches and rich marine ecosystems in Africa, if not the world. World-class SCUBA diving in warm Indian ocean with high changes of spotting whale sharks and manta-rays year-round. Praia do Tofo is a relaxed tropical paradise, with miles of foot-print free sand, top surf breaks and a laid-back way of life.

After almost five centuries as a Portuguese colony Mozambique gained independence in 1975.

On the Mozambique flag is a yellow star overlaid with a book, symbolizing education; a hoe, symbolizing agriculture; and a rifle, for defense and vigilance.

Mozambique’s dance customs have influenced pop culture. In 2011, superstar Beyoncé flew a group of Tofu dancers from Mozambique to the U.S. to teach her dance team their unique moves.

Mozambique’s coastline is home to five of seven endangered species of sea turtles and the largest concentration of whale sharks in the world.
