Our Awards

There are many responsible tourism awards which we take great pride in being affiliated with. These awards not only affirm the high quality and responsible management of our volunteer projects, but also give recognition to our project teams who work so hard to create a great volunteer experience on the ground.

Outstanding Volunteer Project

Global Youth Travel Awards – 2017 & 2014

We are so honored to have won the Outstanding Volunteer Project award in the Global Youth Travel Awards; a second HUGE win for our Build-It project in 2017!  The project itself is directly impacting communities living in poverty in rural Zambia. With the help of volunteers, we are using the innovative method of eco-bricking to clean up the environment, build self-sustaining structures, and create long-term change in quality of life and attitudes towards the environment in the communities we work with. This is only possible with the help of our incredible staff on the ground, dedicated volunteers and the support of local people! Thank you!

Innovative New Program Award

GoAbroad – 2017, 2016, 2014 & 2013

We are delighted to announce that our ‘Build-It‘ volunteer program in Zambia is this year’s recipient of the GoAbroad award for Innovative New Program!  Build-It support communities living in poverty by providing safe and sound structures built with ecological and self-sustaining materials. With the support of volunteers and local community members, we use an innovative method known as eco-bricking; stuffing plastic bottles with non-biological waste to create a reusable building block. The project has seen the quality of life improve for many community members, as well as improved waste management and environmental awareness in the area.
