How your Volunteer Fee is Used:

Volunteer tourism, or ‘voluntourism’ as it is popularly known, is loosely defined as a holiday in which you give back to the land you are visiting; contributing to either community development or conservation. But it’s so much more than that. Voluntourism encompasses a new trend of responsible tourism, where travelers are making informed and responsible choices and planning trips which don’t negatively affect the country or communities they are visiting. When volunteering, it is critical that travelers choose a volunteer organisation or charity with a proven ethos and philosophy around sustainable and responsible tourism practices. This applies both to their work with local communities, wildlife and our volunteers themselves.

African Impact is proud to have a 10 year track record of facilitating responsible volunteer programs in Africa, providing 24 hour support and guidance for volunteers and offering on-going support to communities in need. Understandably, these operations cost money to run and this is where the volunteer fee comes in.

Work & Impacts

Walking running hunting (5) 001

Your volunteer work in Africa will involve daily lion walks providing heaps of photo opportunities with the close encounters not found anywhere in the world. As a wildlife conservation volunteer in Africa you will observe lions interact, play and hunt and possibly make a kill before your very eyes - hopefully captured in your camera!

In addition, you will be able to photograph and interact with an amazing assortment of wildlife. Walks with rescue elephants will allow you to get so much closer to these gentle giants and take pictures from perspectives and distances few people can ever imagine. About Antelope Park

About antelope park

About the Destination

Antelope Park is home to the world famous African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) lion rehabilitation program. It is Africa’s first genuine program working to ethically re-introduce the offspring of captive-bred African lions back into the wild.

Set in over 3000 acres of open savannah grassland, Antelope Park provides you with opportunities to walk with lions, ride through the wilderness on elephant or horseback, view the abundance of wildlife in the Park or canoe on the scenic lake. Volunteer accommodations are a mixture of comfortable twin or quad thatched rooms at the main reserve camp with clean shower and toilet facilities located adjacent to the sleeping area and there are plenty of options to upgrade this to a riverside tent or lodge. Volunteers have the opportunity to use the guest facilities which include the beautiful swimming pool beside the river, canoes, sundowner deck and bar/coffee shop. An evening favourite is gathering around the fire pits and chatting to other guests and volunteers.

All your meals, unless you happen to take a packed breakfast into the park on a long lion walk, will be served at the main camp where a buffet of delicious fresh food awaits you!

Your stay at Antelope Park during your volunteer work with animals, will not only leave you with memories that will last a lifetime, but also with the knowledge that you have personally contributed to the survival of the African Lion.
