Testimonials from Volunteer Teaching & Community Project In Zanzibar in Tanzania

Hannah Cheater, UK

I have just got back from the best month of my life, and that is not an exaggeration! At first I was thinking of only spending 2 weeks in Jambiani, but I am SO glad I booked 4 weeks instead. 2 weeks would not have been enough and everyone who was there for that long wished they had longer. Jambiani is absolutely beautiful and everyone is SO friendly and SO genuine. After a month of life literally ON the beach, you really get to know the people, (both the adults and the children) and the village as though it is home. Everyone was so happy to learn and I made some amazing friends. It is so strange returning to the western world, I don't know what to do with myself. Not once did I feel unsafe, unhappy or bored, it was paradise and the trip of a lifetime. Huge thanks to Toni, Dulla, Emma and of course Kylie. I have had the time of my life and I cannot wait to go back! Thank you so much African Impact!

I cant describe what it meant for me to volunteer for the project in Zanzibar. Volunteering in such a beautiful place also makes you want to stay or come back. I made friends, met wonderful people and the best of all, I was so immersed in what I did, I felt I was a part of the Jambiani Village Community, I felt like a local. WONDERFUL PROJECT, WONDERFUL PEOPLE!

I loved being on this project, Megan, Timo, Debora and Abdullah are absolutely brilliant. Working with the children here has been amazing and something I could never have experienced without African Impact. I think I have made some friends here who I will stay in contact with for a very long time which is great. I pushed my limits a couple times and did things which made me proud. I will definitely be coming back!

It was my first volunteering experience and I absolutely loved it. I wished I had spent at least a month, instead of just 2 weeks, but despite the short time it was fantastically rewarding and invaluable as an experience. It also makes me believe that the most important thing we can do to help is give our time, experience, as opposed to just throwing money at something without being involved on a personal level. I really want to do it again and thank the African Impact staff for their great dedication and hard work, they have been absolutely wonderful.

Pippa Mistry-Norman, UK

I volunteered on this project for 2 weeks and have just got back. The work teaching adults and nursery school children and in the ages in between is so rewarding. The island is beautiful and gives a really nice working environment. You won't meet more friendly people anywhere else, so I would really recommend anyone who is thinking of volunteering in Zanzibar to do it - but for 3 weeks at least, because a fortnight is just too short!!! Thank you African Impact!
