Due to its fantastic beaches and beautiful islands, Lake Malawi is one of the main attractions for local and international tourists to the country. Resorts offer a wide range of activities like snorkeling, diving, boat riding, sailing, water skiing, camping, trips to the lake islands and beach football. Because of its rich fish harvest, the Lake plays an important part in the economy.
Fishing villages are scattered along the shore, however there are also long stretches of totally uninhabited golden sands, splashed by crystal clear waters. You will stay in shared accommodation with electricity, fans, and mosquito nets. There will be access to shared bathroom facilities and a shared kitchen with hot and cold running water and a refrigerator.
Volunteers and interns will work together to keep the living areas clean and tidy. Self-service breakfast foods will be provided daily consisting of eggs, bread, jam, butter, tea, coffee and when available local fruits such as mangoes, bananas, or pineapple. You will be responsible for your own lunch and will have ample opportunities to purchase food at Kande village and other market centres. Food stuffs for a nightly communal dinner will be provided.
As you live and work on the shores of Lake Malawi you will learn a huge amount, gain incredible work experience, and have the adventure of a lifetime.
