Limuru is a luscious green town in central Kenya, carpeted in tea and coffee plantations. Staying here is ideal as you are a mere 30 miles from Nairobi and can easily visit Game Reserves to view the amazing Kenyan wildlife on a safari. You will also be able to take daytrips to an elephant orphanage and giraffe sanctuary.
The volunteer house is based in a secure compound of the Brackenhurst Lodge. The house is fully furnished, has running water, hot showers and flushing toilets. You will share a room with up to five fellow volunteers and can easily enjoy recreational activities such as volleyball, tennis, walking trails or just taking in the magnificent view right on your doorstep. The house is equipped with two comfortable lounges, fireplaces, satellite TV, internet and laundry service provided twice a week.
You will be responsible to pack your own lunches and have the freedom to eat breakfast at your own pace before the scheduled departure time. As part of the rotational duty roster, you will get involved in the meal planning, creating a fun and diverse menu with local cuisine, as well as traditional dishes from your home country. This creates the opportunity to get to know not only Africa, but parts of the rest of the world too.
As you volunteer and travel in Africa you will come across a new way of life, new cultures and make new friends. You will do things you never thought you could and will leave taking a little piece of Africa with you in your heart.
