OPEN DAYS & INDUCTION WORKSHOPS
With over 5 years experience in facilitating unique and responsible volunteer programmes throughout Southern, West and East Africa, at African Impact we consider ourselves the African specialists in volunteer travel.
In 2009 we have been nominated as finalists in the World Tourism Awards, as well as the prestigious Imvelo Responsible Tourism awards in South Africa and the British Youth Travel Awards.
African Impact will be holding Open Days and Induction Workshops in 2010 at the following location:

We invite you to meet valuable members of our team, learn more about our projects and our
amazing work in Africa!
Join any of our free open days and chat to our highly experienced staff and discuss any questions you have about volunteering. No reservations necessary, just arrive!

2. INDUCTION WORKSHOPS
African Impact’s Induction workshops will be a day of interactive learning for you designed to prepare you for your upcoming volunteer placement with us. We highly recommend these induction days conducted by experienced members of our team. The workshops are managed by African Impact’s UK-based director, Greg Bows, who has been a valuable part of the African Impact team for the past 6 years.
How many people attend a session?:
We have a maximum of 16 participants per session in order to make sure everyone gets the attention they need.
We advise people to do this induction day no earlier than 3 months before they travel to keep the all the information fresh.

11.00am Setting the right expectations for your volunteer trip
11.45am An insight into African cultures and how to adapt accordingly

2.15pm Practical workshops on how to be an effective volunteer
3.30pm Personal health and Safety when volunteering
4.00pm Packing check-lists
4.30pm Q and A and feedback
4.45pm End of the day
A wide range of subjects are covered and we make it as interactive and personal as possible. All participants are also give a manual of information, which includes lesson plans and travel check lists and all the days lecture notes.
About Greg Bows
Greg moved to Africa from the UK in 2002 and helped set up and
run many of the African Impact Projects. His unique insight into
volunteer projects and what makes a great volunteer is bound to
inspire you! Greg returned to the UK in 2009 and remains fully
involved with all the African Impact projects.
