NEWS African Impact - May/June 2008

Newsletters » May/June 2008

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our latest newsletter which brings exciting news and volunteer testimonials from far flung destinations throughout Southern and East Africa. We hope that you enjoy reading about the work that we have been involved with recently. A number of our projects are facing interesting times at the moment, especially Zimbabwe. This newsletter also aims to update you on the situation on the ground that ourr project managers and volunteers are experiencing.

This edition is also significant as we announce the offical launch of The Happy Africa Foundation, a charitable trust which we have been instrumental in establishing – which in turn means that past volunteers have been a vital part in the establishment of this noble cause.

Volunteering in Zanzibar - Teaching & Community Volunteer Project

Our project base is on the east coast of Zanzibar in a long village set on a pristine stretch of coastline, where you will be tempted to spend your days relaxing under the palm trees sipping coconut juice. In these spectacular surroundings we invite you to join our work in various teaching, community and environmental programmes. On weekends you will have time to explore this breathtaking archipelago further.

Volunteer with Big Cats!

Interested in volunteer work with big cats? Read more about our new Cheetah Rehabilitation Project in South Africa, which involves hands-on work with cheetah at a unique breeding and rehabilitation station on a beautiful private conservancy.

Also read on for feedback from ALERT’s David Youldon, with updates from our lion rehabilitatoin project (another great way to volunteer with big cats!), as well as stories from some of our most recent volunteers, links to our blog and updates on projects that are in the spotlight this month.

Happy reading, and please feel free to share your news and views on our African Impact blog!

Best wishes,
Sarah Graham
