Hi Everyone!
Welcome to our latest newsletter – and welcome to 2008!! May this be the year that challenges you all to indulge your travel bugs and come and experience Africa by volunteering with us if you’re aren’t planning to do so already!
World Media has been focused on the civil unrest in Kenya for the past couple of weeks, and in this newsletter I have included a special update from our Kenya Project Manager, Tesni Anderson. Despite the media hype, our volunteers have continued with their work on the outskirts of Nairobi and have been involved in amazing humanitarian efforts from refugee feeding schemes to orphan care.
Please also visit our website to find out more about our new Mozambique Rural Pre School and Community Project which involves amazing aspects of rural pre-school teaching and home-building, orphange re-building and island exploration. Volunteers are based 1 minutes walk from the beach and within sight of the World Heritage Site Bazaruto Archipelago (cluster of Islands) – you’re also able to do your PADI certified diving course on site.

The New Year has brought a new face to our Cape Town volunteer project. Recent exciting developments mean that this year we will have the opportunity of supporting numerous rural pre-schools and community teaching projects, as well as branching out to assist in the medical field and at rural clinics.
Read on for feedback from our ALERT’s David Youldon, some of our most recent volunteers, links to our blog and updates on volunteer projects that are in the spotlight this month.
This newsletter also features information on PATHFINDERS – our partner organisation that focuses on ‘Responsible Adventure Expeditions with a difference’ in Africa. Climb Kilimanjaro; Raft the Nile; Dhow safaris and island trekking in the World Heritage Site Bazaruto Archipelago off the Mozambican coast; bush survival courses in Hwange National Park, Kayak the mighty Zambezi River… and more.
