Help us save the rhinos by throwing "Team Thanda" out of an airplane!
Can you believe that the future of one of OUR Big Five is in your hands? The slaughter of rhinos in South Africa has intensified beyond all predictions. In the four years since 2008 – when rhino poaching suddenly reappeared - nearly 1,000 have been brutally slaughtered by poachers, many left to die excruciating, lingering deaths. Last year alone 448 rhinos were killed. Now, in 2012, South Africa is currently losing 1 rhino every 20 hours to poachers. After great success last year the National Skydive for Rhinos campaign is back with a vengeance! This year the campaign aims to raise R10 million with 448 people Skydiving for Rhinos throughout South Africa. 100% of funds raised via Skydive for Rhinos 2012 will be channelled into the following priorities: • Equipment for APU members – from basic (eg: sleeping bags) to high-tech (eg: GPS tracking units) • Skills training for APU teams (basic to advanced) • Aerial surveillance • Buffer community interventions As this is a national campaign, funds will be distributed nationally to urgent, bona-fide, on-the-ground efforts that are sustainable. Project Rhino KZN will be a key beneficiary The entry fee is R5000 and Team Thanda consisting of Natascha, Cassandra and Amanda, are doing their part! Help us to raise the R15000 we need to contribute to this great campaign! You can donate here and read more about our Rhino research and conservation project here
