As 2011 draws to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to say a massive thank you to all our staff, volunteers and African Impact community who has worked so hard this year and has contributed to the exceptional progress that has been made! We have seen some fantastic achievements and hope it has been a lot of fun as well. We wanted to share some of the many highlights that have happened over the course of the year and to acknowledge the hard work and effort which has gone to making this possible! Zambia Thanks to the hard work of the Livingstone team we have seen a tremendous strengthening in our partnerships with local and governmental relationships. Working closely with THAF we have also seen fantastic progress in developing the sustainability of the project in Livingstone. South Africa We have seen some real hard work in St Lucia in developing and implementing essential structure to the projects. This has ensured all the hard work from our volunteers has been carried over and we are able to maintain excellent standards when working within the communities. At Thanda Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, our conservation programme has now split into three focus projects, allowing an even more specific approach to the important work volunteers conduct here, we have also seen our new over 30’s project launched and are expecting our first volunteer in January. During the course of 2011 Cape Town has built a resource centre which has just had electricity installed. And thanks to some good old fashioned manual labour we have seen a flourishing of a vegetable garden. We are looking forward to the exciting new developments happening in 2012. Mozambique Mozambique has had great success with over 40 adults passing their English literature, a real credit to our volunteers and co-ordinators for making this happen. A new home was built for a member of the community who previously had nothing. A new vegetable patch was planted at the pre-school and is now providing food to the children.
