The Happy Africa Foundation (THAF) have been fund-raising all of last year for the Books For Africa campaign. This is an organisation in the USA that collect donated books from schools and colleges. THAF had to fund-raise enough money in Livingstone to ship a container of these books to Livingstone. After a vigorous year of advertising to donors and volunteers they reached the target last October and organised for the shipment to arrive delivering 22,000 books to Livingstone in February. Hannah and Memory at THAF are now busy organising a book presentation ceremony for Thursday 2nd Feb, in Nakatindi hall at 2pm, to welcome the books to Livingstone and celebrate this joyful occasion with the communities. They have invited the District of Education Board Secretary, Provincial Minister, Town Clerk, Provincial Office, and Permanent Secretary along with representatives from all the schools who have requested books from the shipment. They plan to have their business manager Rachael do a small speech along with the previous people mentioned to mark the occasion. Their very own Memory and Brave (zambian medical coordinator) will be MC-ing the afternoon and they will have various traditional entertainment from the local schools including both singing and dancing. This is going to be a fantastic event! After the ceremony THAF will have the monstrous task of distributing the books, along with providing cabinets for those in need of them to house the books within the schools.
