We are looking for a proactive, team player and passionate Education Volunteer Coordinator for our team in Livingstone. You will be responsible for the day-to-day coordinating of volunteers, ensuring they have an unforgettable experience whilst staying safe, healthy, and entertained both on project and at our volunteer house. You will oversee all our education projects so having a Teaching degree is a must.

Overall responsibilities:

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the volunteers and projects in Livingstone. We arrange your housing and you’ll be responsible in making sure our international volunteers are comfortable in their accommodations and enjoying their volunteer experience. You will need to balance your time between managing relationships with our community partners, planning activities, actively seeking new partnerships to expand the programme, encouraging and supporting volunteers and staff members and reviewing the projects and proposing changes based on feedback.

 

Detailed responsibilities:

Experience:

  1. Ensure activities provide unique and immersive experiences.
  2. Make the decisions on how to implement improvements based on volunteer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  3. Be actively involved in social activities with volunteer, always maintaining a professional relationship & creating a positive volunteer atmosphere- present, enthusiastic & engaged.
  4. Encourage and guide volunteers to be the best they can be.
  5. Effectively communicate goals and reasoning behind cultural guidelines to volunteers.
  6. Ensuring volunteers know when/where/what they are doing and adhere to schedule- project goals, punctuality.

 

Project:

  1. Prepare volunteers for project.
  2. Ensure the quality of teaching and lesson preparation is always consistent & maintains a high standard.
  3. Working to actively create a positive team environment.
  4. Work alongside the Volunteer manager to maintain strong partner relationships for long term sustainable projects.
  5. Clearly demonstrate adherence to the Code of Conduct, Standard Operating Procedures and Experience documents on how to support the Volunteer Experience.

 

Enterprise:

  1. Provide reports and imagery to the office to support the growth in numbers of volunteers.
  2. Identify areas for growth and improvement discussing these with your Base manager.
  3. Contribute to the running of social media pages.
  4. Collating weekly, monthly and quarterly medical project stats

 

Community Engagement:

  1. Maintain positive relationships with local staff, students, teachers & community members.
  2. Spend time in the community building relationships and assist volunteers transitioning into life in Livingstone.
  3. Be a champion of our cultural guidelines to upkeep African Impact’s reputation with the community.
  4. Respond quickly and directly to community needs- implement projects to support their requirements.

 

Skills & Experience:

  1. Teaching degree
  2. Able to start ASAP
  3. Manual driving license is an added advantage
  4. A team player who’s interested in people, coaching, and  supporting volunteers
  5. Self-motivated, flexible, independent, adaptable
  6. Love of socialising with different types of people and mixed ages
  7. A positive attitude and the ability to think on your feet

 

Logistics:

  1. Full-time accommodation and meals (Monday to Friday) are provided at the volunteer house
  2. Salary: dependent on experience
