Working visa in Africa - Work Permits
This page includes useful information about visas, work permits
and passport information for volunteers going to Africa.
NOTE: You will not need a working visa in Africa for
most of our volunteer projects. The majority of African countries
will allow you to enter their country on a normal tourist visa to
conduct your volunteer project.
Every African country is unique and it is advisable that you contact
the consulate of the specific country that you wish to volunteer
in, before you start your travel arrangements.
General Guidelines - work & Volunteer Visas
Below are some general guidelines about travel documents for volunteers
travelling to Africa:
- Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your
planned return
- Your passport must have at least two blank pages remaining in
it
- Apply for any passports or visas in good time
- Always read the small-print on any applications for Africa
work and volunteers visas
- Leave copies of documents with friends/your parents at home
- Find the numbers of your embassies in the countries you plan
to visit and take them with you
- Never leave visas to the last minute. Many visas for Southern
or East Africa can be obtained at the point of entry into that
country, but be responsible and make sure. Visa details are outlined
in more detail in the country information under the where
to volunteer section.
