Nix has been with us since 2005 now and has proved that her organizational skills are unsurpassed! Nix has run our projects in Antelope Park, Victoria falls, Dollar Block and Livingstone . You will be endeared to Nix’s warm personality and ability to smile in all circumstances!

Amanda is a native Australian who has recently immigrated to South Africa. Having worked 15 years in the Australian police force, Amanda has amazing people skills and a gift for making volunteers feel welcome and easily able to fit into our community projects here.

The African Encounter team, of which African Impact is the volunteering arm, is led by Andrew and Wendy Conolly, who have more than twenty years experience in the safari, tourism and hospitality industry. Through African Impact, they hope to benefit the people of Africa and celebrate the continent's richly diverse landscapes and wildlife.

Andrew fell in love with Africa on a fortnight safari to Kenya in 2001. In 2007 he volunteered on 4 projects around the world including our Lion Conservation & Community Education project at Victoria Falls. On the trip Andrew hoped to find a volunteer program that he could work at, applying the skills he gained as a corporate Programme Manager. Now he is in a beautiful part of the world helping the people, wildlife and environment in and around St Lucia.



Anna Burn

African Impact Senior Project Manager

Anna has a BSc Hons in Outdoor Education and has vast field experience having worked in the past with World Challenge, and in leading travel expeditions, managing operations and training crew around the world with reputable travel organisations. Anna is responsible for the senior management of African Impact projects, and much of her time is spent traveling between project locations to ensure that we are doing our utmost to facilitate high-quality and sustainable work, which we believe is our responsibility to our volunteers, and the projects, communities and conservation areas that they serve.

Antelope Park Project Manager

Ben is currently co-managing our Antelope Park with Jim Cowell and they have already shown themselves to be a formidable and dedicated force! Ben’s passion for the lions is evident in his every approach to his role as project manager.



Chris Roriz  

Chris Roriz
Vilanculos Project Manager, Mozambique

Chris is a second-generation Mozambican with Portuguese descent, Chris spent a few years studying in Portugal and after having spent two years working in Vilanculos he is now excited to be involved in our community projects in the town. Chris feels a real connection with the people and culture of Mozambique and offers great support to the projects and volunteer base camp.



David Youldon  

David Youldon
Executive Director for ALERT (African Lion and Environmental Research Trust)

David first came to the Antelope Park programme in Zimbabwe in 2004 as a volunteer, with a general interest in big cats. Whilst there he came to understand the need for a rehabilitation programme like this, and truly believes that this programme will succeed in repopulating Africa’s national parks with Lions. David came back in 2005 and was asked to stay on and facilitate the Antelope Park volunteer programme. ‘To watch and work with small cubs as they grow into seasoned hunters is such a privilege and provides great satisfaction. It does not get better than this’. David has since expanded his horizons and is now heading up our release campaign and managing the ALTERT trust.

Elaine Prescott

Antelope Park Project Manager

After studying Parks and Recreation Management in her home country of New Zealand, Elaine found herself in a career in project and business management in Investment Banking to fund her passion for travel. Her passion for wildlife bought her back to her roots whilst doing a number of wildlife and conservation volunteer projects during a career break in 2007. One of those projects was the African Lion Rehabilitation Programme at Antelope Park and she is excited to be back in Africa and applying her skills to such an important project.



Esther Widlanski  

Esther Widlanski
Vilanculos Project Manager, Mozambique

Esther volunteered on our community projects in Livingstone and Vilanculos in 2007. She immediately developed a passion for the communities with which we work and couldn’t wait to trade the concrete jungle of NYC for the truly wild landscapes of Africa. With degrees in Philosophy and English Literature from Colby College in the USA, Esther manages our Vilanculos projects and continues to learn new things every day about the world and herself.



Greg Bows  

Greg Bows
Project Development and Marketing Co-ordinator

Greg first came to Africa in 2002 on a Gap year. After traveling East and Southern Africa, Greg fell in love with Africa's people and wildlife. He worked in South Africa in monitoring wild lions before joining African Impact in May 2003. Greg has since run several programs including the Antelope Park Lion Rehabilitation Program and is now the Operations Manager for African Impact Zambia.



Jolene Harris  

Jolene Harris
Destination Manager - Mozambique and South Africa

Jolene looks after the needs of all volunteers heading to her. She was born in Zimbabwe, has lived in different parts of Zim for most of her life, apart from a few years in England, but Africa called again! She worked for 2 ½ years with an adventure tour operator before moving over to African Impact and joining us in making an impact on the continent of Africa as one of our destination managers.



Jude Bore  

Jude Bore
Vilanculos Project Manager, Mozambique

Jude joined us in 2007 from a background in teaching children, many with behavioural or physical/emotional difficulties. Her days are spent at the school, orphanage and outreach programme managing and developing them. She also speaks Portuguese so assists with translation. Jude feels very lucky to be doing what she is doing as she meets incredible people every day.



Kylie Taute  

Kylie Taute
Destination Manager - Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia

Kylie was born and raised in Zimbabwe. In 2001 she went to work, travel and study in the United Kingdom until she decided to come back and live in Africa at the beginning of 2008. Kylie is really excited to be back in Africa and to be involved with all the wonderful African Impact community projects based in and around East Africa.



Lauren Lock

Sustainable Development Manager

Lauren is a 4th generation Zimbabwean and is an Environmental Management & Geography graduate from the University of Natal, Durban. Lauren joined African Impact at the beginning of 2006, she has a passion for Africa and an interest in Sustainable Development approaches in Conservation and Community Work. Lauren would like to see African Impact continue to grow and develop new and exciting projects which hold a genuine intent on making a difference and a positive measurable impact.



Leigh-Ann Marnoch  

Leigh-Ann Marnoch
Hwange Project Manager, Zimbabwe

Leigh-Ann has a passion for wildlife and photography, strengthened by working for three years at Antelope Park in our DVD production unit. Now at our Hwange project she is working towards her Learners Guide License and Dart License. Leigh-Ann is responsible, down to earth and adventurous - great qualities for a project manager.



Lesley Bredenkamp  

Lesley Bredenkamp
Destination Manager - Botswana and Zimbabwe

Les joined us at the beginning of 2007 with great enthusiasm for African Impacts innovative projects. She has lived in Zimbabwe for the majority of her life, married to Mike and has a son: Ross aged 16. Les has loved rising to the challenges that African Impact has presented and enjoyed growing with the company. She has a great passion for all animals, and a fascination with the human psyche.



Lucy Pollock  

Lucy Pollock
Relief Manager for Livingstone, St Lucia and Victoria Falls

Originally trained as a beauty and aromatherapist, Lucy travelled extensively before studying Business at Manchester. After changing careers Lucy worked in human resources, but continued to work on numerous voluntary projects in eastern and southern Africa. She hopes that her enthusiastic approach coupled with her passion for Africa will help to make a lasting difference to this beautiful continent.



Megan Lehmann  

Megan Lehmann
Zanzibar Project Manager, Tanzania

Megan has a degree in Primary School Education, specialising in Outdoor Education, which combined her two passions, children and the outdoors. She is now using her experience gained through this and her extensive travel through Africa to run our Zanzibar projects The smiles of the Zanzibari children remind Megan each day of her bigger purpose, and make her look forward to each new day on the beautiful tropical island, with a smile of her own!



Michelle Procter  

Michelle Procter
St Lucia Project Manager, South Africa

When volunteering in the UK with Wildlife Rescue, Michelle developed a passion for conservation, travel and culture, so volunteered on our Lion Conservation and community education Project in Victoria Falls. She found this a great way to see Africa through different eyes - you get a deeper experience than as a tourist. Michelle is very excited to be involved in such important projects helping volunteers make a small difference each day.



Nathan Webb  

Nathan Webb
Hwange Project Manager, Zimbabwe

Nathan worked at Antelope Park as Lion’s Manager for a year before joining our Hwange project. He has a strong passion for the bush and holds his Learners Guide License. Nathan enjoys wildlife, particularly snakes and hopes to get his full license soon.



Sarah Graham  

Sarah Graham
Project Development and Marketing

Sarah is a 4th generation Zimbabwean, and is a Marketing and Social Science graduate of the University of Cape Town. She is involved with marketing and project development for African Impact. The continent of Africa and the study of languages are two of Sarah’s real passions. Getting sustainable and measurable results out of work based in Africa, and being able to travel to different intriguing destinations on a regular basis, makes her even more passionate about the work that African Impact is involved in.



Sean Anderson  

Sean Anderson
Operations Manager for East Africa

Sean is a 5th Generation Zimbabwean, and a graduate of the University of Cape Town. Having spent the last 2 years living in Kenya and having traveled there extensively in the past, Sean’s local knowledge and passion for East Africa is unparalleled. Along with Sean, our team of staff in Nairobi are an asset to our work and expeditions in this amazing part of the continent.

Timo Lehmann  

Timo Lehmann
Zanzibar Project Manager, Tanzania

Timo is a born and bred South African with a degree in Environmental Science and a postgraduate certificate in Secondary School Education. After working in our Nairobi office for 2 ½ years he is now running our project in one of East Africa’s Jewels. Timo treasures being able to make a tangible difference and interacting with the people of Zanzibar and says that waking up to a sunrise over the Indian Ocean each morning is not too bad either!
