There are many responsible tourism awards which we take great pride in being affiliated with. These awards not only affirm the high quality and responsible management of our volunteer projects, but also give recognition to our project teams who work so hard to create a great volunteer experience on the ground.
Global Youth Travel Awards

We were thrilled to have received the Global Youth Travel award for Outstanding Volunteer Project at the 2014 WYSE Conference. The winning project was our Cape Town Teaching, Sports and Vulnerable Childcare Volunteer program which sees volunteers working in early childhood development and with vulnerable youth in disadvantaged communities. The judges commended the economically and environmentally sustainable impact of the project. Having drawn a record number of nominations, the awards celebrate the outstanding performers within the youth, student and educational travel industry and act as a benchmark for excellence within this fast-growing sector.
GoAbroad Innovation Awards 2014
In 2014 we were shortlisted for two GoAbroad.com Awards and won the category for Innovative New Program for the second year running, this time for our Teaching, Education & Community Development Program in Moshi, Tanzania. Moshi is a culture-rich town on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and our projects there, although fairly new, have been very successful so far. We are fully integrated in the local community and our work in English literacy education with local Masai tribes has won us much respect.
GoAbroad Innovation Awards 2013
We are truly honoured to have won the Innovative New Program award presented for our Chimfunshi Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Orphan Care Program in rural Zambia for our initiatives in self-sustaining fruit tree farming and chimp behavioural enrichment activities. This award honours an inventive program in global study, internships, and volunteering that provides a unique opportunity for student learning and cultural engagement.

African Impact is extremely proud to have won the 2014 Imvelo Award for BEST SOCIAL INVOLVEMENT. We were previous finalists in the 2012 awards and winners in the Best Social Involvement category 2011 & 2010.
The Imvelo Responsible Tourism awards were initiated to coincide with the World Summit on Sustainable Development that was held in South Africa in 2002. They recognise tourism and hospitality businesses that make a real, measurable and sustained contribution to Responsible Tourism. The Imvelo awards have had a huge impact on tourism in South Africa, creating significant awareness of environmental management issues in the industry.

British Youth Travel Awards 2011

We were proud to be one of three finalists in the British Youth Travel Awards 2011, for the Green Tourism category. The British Educational Travel Association is representative of producers and suppliers of youth, student and educational related products and the awards has been designed to reward youth travel organisations working to maximise their positive impact on the environment and local community within which they operate.

We were extremely honoured to have been placed in second position for the best training programme in the tourism sector at the BHP Billiton Achiever Award. This award honour companies, government departments, and organisations who have demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of their employees’ skills base by implementing skills development and training programmes that are relevant, innovative and effective.
